SD Cards
All of the ATC cameras support SD cards to improve on the inbuilt memory. The different cameras only support up to certain sized memory cards, which are as follows:
ATC1000 – 1GB
ATC2000 – 2GB
ATC3000 – 4GB
ATC5000 – 4GB
When choosing an SD card I’d recommend buying the biggest your camera will support. As for makes and brands, I use SanDisk ones and I would recommend either the general SanDisk or the SanDisk Ultra cards. If you use cheap SD cards, they won’t be as reliable and the footage quality could be reduced.
When buying an SD card I highly recommend only buying directly from a retailer. When I was buying mine, I tried saving about 50p by using an Amazon Marketplace seller. The first company I bought from I ended up getting a fake SD card. I didn’t realise at the time, and assumed that there was a manufacturing defect with it. I exchanged the SD card and the new one broke again. I then bought from another company on the Amazon marketplace, to have the same problem. Each time the SD card broke within a few uses! I complained to Amazon in the end and the retailer has been removed – I still wouldn’t recommend buying parts like this from anyone but the main store, especially as the saving is so minimal!
I ended up buying my SD card from play.com. It cost about 50p to a £1 more than the “other seller” options or ebay, but the amount of time I wasted trying to get replacements and sending broken cards back meant I may as well have bought directly to start with.
Though buying from the retailer directly may be slightly more expensive, buying SD cards online should save you around half of the card’s price, so it is well worth buying online!
