GoPro HD Hero
Go Pro have recently launched their all new high definition action camera…and it is very impressive! It is slightly bigger in size to the old Go Pros, but definitely makes up for it in video quality. This camera records full HD at 1080p and 30 frames per second. You can also record at 720p at either 30fps or 60fps.
The advantage of the 60 frames per second mode is if you plan on doing any slow motion footage. This allows for double the detail and a much smoother video. It really is impressive to see!
The Go Pro HD Hero has a huge, 170 degree wide angle lens. I recently used one of the Go Pro HD motor sports version at a track day in Rockingham and it was fantastic. We had it inside our car and it did a great job at capturing us, out of the front of the car and out of the side windows too. As it was my first track day, and as it wasn’t my car, I went a little easy and the footage isn’t that interesting to watch!
A 170 degree wide angle lens is great as it means you get a lot more footage of what is around you and your surroundings, rather than just what is directly in front of you.
Full 170 degree footage is only recorded on the lower, 960p or 720p modes. A very reasonable 127 degree lens captures full HD.
Along with improving the footage, Go pro have spent a lot of time improving the microphone and sound quality on the microphone. This means that wind noise is reduced at higher speeds.
The Go Pro HD Hero can also be used as a 5 mega pixel camera, so that you can take still photos. Along with this you can use a ‘flick book’ type mode, which can take a photo every 2, 5, 10, 30 or 60 seconds.
The Go pro HD hero comes with a waterproof case, which has a depth rating that allows it to go down 180 feet or 60 meters. This makes it great for anyone into scuba diving, water sports…or worried they might get caught out in the rain!
The Go Pro HD Hero is one of the best action cameras currently on the market, and if you are looking for an action camera I wouldn’t look any further. Although it may seem a little pricey, it is fantastic value for money and will really see you into the future! So, what are you waiting for?
